China's Visa-Free Policy: 120+ Countries
China's visa free policy benefits over 120 countries, injecting new vitality into the market
From June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, China implemented a unilateral visa-free policy for five South American countries: Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay.
In addition, the new visa-free policy was implemented from June 9, 2025, to June 8, 2026, on a trial basis for passport holders from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain, allowing them to stay in China for up to 30 days for business, tourism, family visits, exchanges, and transit purposes.
As of now, China has implemented a unilateral visa-free policy for 43 countries and signed mutual visa exemption agreements with 30 countries.
Additionally, the countries that can transit through China for 10 days visa-free when traveling to a third country include 55 countries, with the recent addition of Indonesia. When these personnel transit from China to a third country can stay within China for no more than 10 days.
This brings the total number of countries with visa-free access to China to 128.
This visa-free policy will promote personnel exchanges, which in turn will affect various aspects such as the economy and culture.
The tourism industry is the most direct beneficiary. It is more convenient for Chinese tourists to visit these countries, and similarly, it is also more convenient for tourists from other countries to come to China, which will promote the development of related industries such as hotels, aviation, and catering.
In terms of business communication, it is more convenient for business people to travel, which may promote more trade cooperation and investment. Enterprises may be more proactive in exploring overseas markets, and participating in international conferences and exhibitions, which can contribute to the integration of global supply chains and the business expansion of multinational corporations.
In terms of cultural exchange and educational cooperation, students and scholars are more likely to visit each other, promoting academic exchange. Cultural activities and art exhibitions will also increase, promoting friendly relations between the people.
In terms of the consumer market, tax exemption policies may stimulate cross-border shopping, for example, Chinese consumers are more likely to shop overseas, especially for luxury goods, electronic products, etc. Cross border e-commerce may also benefit as logistics and customs clearance are more convenient.
In terms of investment and regional economy, visa-free access may boost investor confidence, attract foreign investment into the Chinese market, and at the same time, Chinese companies' outward investment may also increase. The visa-free policy may accelerate cooperation projects and promote common development.
China's continuous expansion of visa-free policies not only promotes the facilitation of international personnel exchanges, but also injects new vitality into global economic and trade cooperation and the tourism industry.
