Gemini promotes a happy and friendly work culture, in Hong Kong spread across two offices: our headquarters in Central and a satellite office just across the water in TST. We work with industry experts in all our teams, which enables us to be agile and respond fast to market challenges and opportunities. With a history of over 35 years in Asia, we are best placed to serve our candidates and clients with in-depth knowledge of the local market. But what is it like to work here?

How we operate
Gemini consultants recruit across all industries, with each consultant being an expert in their own field. Consequently, each consultant is assigned to at least one desk, with the expectation that they attend industry events and keep themselves updated with the trends in their industry. We make sure that they can advise clients and candidates on a local and global level to become a trusted advisor. Consultants at Gemini are free to build up their knowledge and contacts in different industries.

We have had successful instances of consultants switching desks. When they present a business case, they have demonstrable evidence of understanding the key events shaping different industries. Our consultants recruit across functions, dealing with everything from IT to Finance, Sales and Human Resources, to truly build-up a complete understanding of the industry. In this way, they will get a better understanding of the pay scales, specific skills and required hiring trends.

Independence
At Gemini, we believe in setting clear expectations, but we also firmly believe in giving our consultants the freedom to manage their own work to live up to achieve those expectations. Of course, billings are important, and it is what keeps our business healthy and thriving, but consultants are given a large amount of independence to build their own desk, and effectively run their own business.

Of course, all Gemini consultants have a support network, whether through their mentor or manager. Gemini provides all the tools a recruitment consultant needs to succeed. These tools include, for example, their own LinkedIn Recruiter seat, a partnership with JobsDB and other leading vehicles. However, we trust our staff to behave and perform like professionals. When they are ready and confident to manage their own pipeline, they are left alone to do just that, without interference. Gemini recognises that this is an entrepreneurial and independent modus operandi. It doesn’t suit all personalities, but consultants appreciate the model. We are proof that it works!

Development, progression, and opportunities

We at Gemini believe in developing and retaining new and existing staff. We have recently revitalised and refreshed our Career Development path, allowing successful consultants to gain increased exposure and management opportunities, for those who wish to gain management experience. We also have a fully-fledged Learning and Development program, so our consultants remain on top of their game and learn new skills.

This included the relaunch of our in-house development training sessions. In these sessions, the whole company got together to discuss ideas, share experiences around business development to enable them to enhance their skillset and develop their abilities. We also run ‘hard skills’, refresher sessions with our partners to ensure we’re making the most of the tools at our disposal. In addition, we are relaunching our ‘Lunchtime Learnings’, series of trainings where consultants share tips and successes to facilitate knowledge sharing and promote development.
